Chapel - Invisible Children

Today, we had split chapels!  The PK - 4th met with Mr. Miller in the Kidzone Room.  Ask your child why we had a house in there!

The 5th - 8th graders met with Coach Jeremy in the sanctuary, with Pastor Tom and Pastor Charlie leading worship.  The group watched and discussed a short movie called Invisible Children.  This movie looks at what a typical middle schooler's life looks like in war torn Uganda.

While the movie has much less graphic violence than the majority of video games and movies the students talk about on a regular basis, the difference is that this is based in reality.  Undoubtedly, your student may ask you some questions.  We believe that you as a parent are the best ones to answer these questions.

As this week of Thanksgiving approaches, we must remember to give thanks that we are blessed to live in the United States.  It is then also our responsibility to pray for those around the world who are not as fortunate as us.

To find out more about the Invisible Children Project, you may view this website.

To learn more about Social Justice issues that affect us globally, I would also recommend the PCPJ Project, led by Dr. Paul Alexander, Professor of Theology and Ethics at Azusa Pacific University and his latest book, Peace to War: Shifting Allegiances in the Assemblies of God.

And finally, Pastor Charlie is continuing to collect pringles cans of change to help stop human trafficking.  For more information about what you can do, visit Project Rescue

Have a Happy Thanksgiving.
