Parent Update - Friday September 5

5 September 2008

School has started and we have survived the first week! By next week, we will all be in the swing of things.

Today, permission slips will be handed out for our After School Sports program. Practice will begin on Monday. The typical practice schedule will be Mon-Thursday from the end of school until 4:45 PM. More information will go out specifically from Coach Jer to those who sign up. Our League meeting is scheduled next Monday night at 6 PM, after which we will be able to have a sports schedule.

Tuesday night at 5:30 PM is the Yearbook Signing Party. For 1 hour, yearbooks will be distributed. Please invite former students to come that night. Immediately following that event at 7 PM is our Back to School Night. This is an important meeting for all parents to attend. The Parent/Student Handbook will be distributed and parents will be able to briefly see their students’ rooms and greet their teachers. The evening will begin with a 20 minute session in the Sanctuary with a greeting from me, an introduction to the school board. More information will be available that night about sports schedules, music lessons, JBQ teams, and the new beginning band program.

On Friday, September 12th, we will be going to the LA County Fair in Pomona! Permission slips will be sent home next week. Parents are welcome to join us. The cost of the field trip will be $5 per student. Parents are welcome to come as chaperones for free. We also have parking passes available for parents who drive. Passes and Directions will be handed out Friday morning at the school.

For those much more technically savvy than myself, there is now a Palm View Facebook, You Tube, and blog accounts set up. If there are other ways you would like to get information, please let me know, and we will work on it.

BILLING REMINDERS
Bills will be sent home on Monday. Typically they will be sent out at the end of the month and due by the 5th of each month. This week has been super busy and I’m a little later than normal. Please remember to pay upon receipt. Thank you.
