Palm View has been offering an excellent education for over 24 years to the people in the Whittier / Pico Rivera community. We announced two years ago that we wanted to begin the accreditation process as part of our five year long term plan. Every decision that has been made during the last few years as filtered through what we need to successfully undergo this process.
What is accreditation? It's comprised of an intensive self study and a review by educators not involved in the local school. This way, we can see if we meet the standards that to which excellent schools are held. After reviewing the requirements, we believe that we can successfully begin the journey as the pieces are nearly complete.
Last Thursday, Mrs. Centmeyer and I attended an ACSI conference for those beginning the process. During the next year, we will be continue to attend meetings, develop committees of students, parents and teachers, and create our self study. Our target date is set for Spring of 2011.
We have decided to do the most comprehensive accreditation process -- a joint early education (preschool) through 8th grade for both ACSI and WASC. This daunting self analysis will guarantee that our missions and goals are carried out from the very first moment a young preschooler begins, all the way through 8th grade. The dual accreditation stamp also allows us both a Christian and a secular endorsement.
We are looking forward to this process. Together, we can accomplish great things!
