Bowling for College?
Not really!
The 8th grade girls are headed to Rio Hondo College for the AAUW Math & Science Conference on this Friday with Ms. Garcia, while the 8th grade boys are headed to Mathematical Bowling at Friendly Hills Lanes with Mr. Miller and Coach Jeremy. There's a good chance they won't let us try this experiment...
Gravity Experiment using a bowling ball
In this experiment, you will be able to determine the height of building using a bowling ball dropped from the top. You will need a bowling ball and several stop watches
Procedure
1.Weigh the bowling ball
2.Drop the bowling ball from the top of the building.
3.Record the time of free fall with several stopwatches, from the instant of release until impact with the ground. Determine the average of the times.
4.Determine the height (x) of the building using the bowling ball's free fall time, where x = g*t2/2
5.Calculate the velocity of the bowling ball upon impact, using v = g*t where t is the time in seconds after it is dropped.
6.Calculate the momentum of the bowling ball upon impact, using p = m*v

For Girls Only (5th - 8th Grade)
At Palm View, we desire for our young ladies to transform into leaders for the next generation, using their God given talents to create a better world. A typical "tweener's" world right now revolves around the latest Justin Beiber hit, fashion accessories, and a desire to be in high school.
We would like to invite all Moms & Daughters in the 5th - 8th grade to make plans for the March 6th Mother Daughter Tea and Fashion Show beginning at 2 PM. The cost is only $5 per Mother/Daughter, and only $3 for all grandmothers, aunts, and mothers of younger students who desire to attend. (Because of topics that may be discusses, we are asking that no students in 4th grade or lower attend). Moms, even if you only have boys, you may still attend!
