Get Excited About Chocalate!
Our Spring Fundraiser this year is WORLDS Finest Chocolate Bars. Each bar only costs $1.
PTF Money goes directly to projects that help your students. Over the last year, PTF money has gone to EXTREME MAKEOVER: Classroom Edition – as rooms have been repainted and remodeled. Monies have also purchased new playground equipment and offset the cost of the annual yearbook. Costs of transportation on field trips are also routinely underwritten.
To continue helping fund our events, we are asking each student to sell a minimum of 25 candy bars (family minimum – 50 candy bars).
We encourage every family to participate with us! Class Competitions will be held for most candy bars sold. The winner will receive a party with Mr. Miller. Daily prizes will also be given. Contest begins Wednesday, February 3rd – Friday, February 20th.

Mad Science
Cancellations
The Getty Musuem Field trip for Jan 21st has been cancelled. Regular classes for all PK-8th grade. You may wear jeans and rain jackets. We will work on rescheduling field trip.
The ACSI Spelling Bee will proceed as planned. Any extra parents that had planned to take the day off for the field trip can volunteer to help us host another 13 schools tomorrow. Just stop in the morning!
Finally -- I Apologize for the robot voice which is on the message alert system. The voice recording portion was not working, so the computer translated text to speech.
STAY DRY!
Field Trip Postponed
An already long hour+ bus drive would easily turn into a 2 hour trip each direction. We feel it would be safer to keep them on campus in this weather.
We will let you know when we can reschedule this field trip.
Mr. Miller

HAITI Relief
The students of Palm View are committed to making a difference. We are challenging our Palm View Community to bring in a minimum of $200 over the next two weeks for Haiti. That is only $1 per week per student. One less candy bar a week.
While we will accept donations during the week, the chapel offerings will also be going towards Haiti relief. For those that want tax deductible credit, please make checks out to Palm View with a memo of HAITI RELIEF. Cash will also be accepted in the classrooms and office.

Spring Calendar
More class specific field trip dates will be announced soon.
Stay tuned to for specifics on our 4th Annual Political Science Speaker series.. Araceli Gonzales, Deputy Coalitions Director for the Meg Whitman Gubernatorial Campaign, and Fred Hawthorne, candidate for Whittier City Council have agreed to participate this year. (Disclaimer: Candidates are not endorsed by, nor may they share the same views held by Palm View Christian School or Palm View Assembly of God. Many speakers are invited but not all accept invitations.)
The next several months will also see a number of guest speakers, including many missionaries. All parents are always welcome to attend Chapel.
Phones & Games & I-pods
Please remember, that our policy states that all electronic devices should be kept at home. If they do come to school, we are not liable for any loss or theft. Students can not utilize them during the school day (8 AM - 3 PM).
Our cell phone policy states that cell phones must be either off in their locker or if kept on their person, placed in front of them at their desk with the power turned off.
MP3's and I-pods are strictly forbidden during class times, unless it is part of a class project with prior approval from Mrs. Centmeyer or myself, or part of an alternative education plan.
Students violating these rules will have their devices confiscated and returned only in a parent conference.
Many of the new smart phones have internet capabilities. Since we are a wired campus, students can pick up the internet essentially anywhere on school and parking lot grounds. Parents have a responsibility to place safeguards on their students phones, review visited sites and text messages.
As we become an increasingly wireless world, our staff is working on creative ways to incorporate these devices into lesson plans. They are excellent tools if used responsibly.
