Be Money $mart Essay Contest

Enter the “Be Money $mart!” Essay Contest and win up to a $5,000 Savings Bond!

Age categories, essay questions and prizes:

3rd thru 5th Grades: Essay Question (250 words): Pretend you are a dollar bill. Tell us about one of your typical days. Where have you been? What have you purchased? Where are you going? Savings Bond Prize: $1,500

6th thru 8th Grades: Essay Question (500 words): Think of your dreams. Tell us what you want to do after high school, will you go to college, what career do you want to have? What do you want to be able to do with your money? Savings Bond Prize: $3,500

ONE winner in each grade level category will be selected to win ONE U.S. Savings Bond in the prize amount indicated.

To be eligible for the contest students must be in grades 3rd-12th residing in on or the ten counties which JA Southern California serves: Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, Ventura, Santa Barbara, San Luis Obispo, Kern, King or Tulare. Junior Achievement and Allstate employees and their immediate families are not eligible to win.

Only ONE ENTRY per student. Once submitted, all essays are the property of both Junior Achievement of Southern California and Allstate. Essays may be used in duplication for various mediums. Entries must be received by January 31, 2009. Winners will be selected and notified by February 30, 2009.
