We are dissapointed that the Yankees and the Phillies are playing in the series. BUT!!! We are still proud of First Day Whittier’s aid to the homeless. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU. Everyone has been bringing in offerings and travel toiletries to donate. We are still inviting everybody to come at gametime (5:20 PM) this Sunday, November 1st as we watch game 4 of the series in the Fellowship Hall. Our chapel offerings from now through the end of the year will be going to FIRST DAY WHITTIER. We are also asking students to bring travel toiletries to donate in the offering.

Don’t forget Saturday, October 31st! We need bulk candy donations. If you can bring 1 bag in next week, it would help out the event a lot.

Sad News

We are saddened to announce that Ms. Gaskin will be leaving our Palm View family. Due to several major family health issues, she will be returning to Canada next week. Her last day will be this Friday. Ms. Gaskin has been a valuable part of the Palm View family for 6 years. She will be missed.

The church and school boards met in a combined session last night. The end result of their decisions was to reassign Ms. Loyko to the middle school position vacated by Ms. Gaskin and to recombine the 3rd and 4th grades with Mrs. Johnson.

I will hold a special meeting with the 3rd & 4th grade parents tomorrow, Thursday, at 6:30 PM.

And the winner is....

Dodger Rudy!

Yes, it was the Dodger Dog eating contest between 8th grade Dodgers: Jessica and Rudy; the lone Yankee : Steven, and the Angelic contingent:  Christian, Michael, and Jospeh.

To the tune of Hot Diggety Dog, it became a 3 way race among Jessica, Steven and Rudy.  The Dodgers pulled it out over the Yankees as Steven gulped down his Dodger dog.

This was one of the more unusual offeretories we've had in chapel, but many kids brough toiletry items and monies for First Day Whitter as part of our KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK campaign.  We will continue collecting items and donations through out Thanksgiving.  Don't forget to join us for Game 4 of the series on November 1st in the fellowship hall.

Thank you for participating.

Go Dodgers!

Ready for some snow?

It's too early to be thinking about winter camp, but it's time to start saving your money.

Mark your calendars for February 13 - 15th at Pinecrest

KNOCK IT OUT OF THE PARK!

Go Angels / Go Dodgers!

Even if they don't make it ( I still believe!),  we are still raising money and supplies for FIRST DAY WHITTIER!

All students (preschool - 8th grade) can wear Dodgers or Angels apparrel tomorrow.  [Wear Yankees or Phillies uniforms at your own risk]  Offerings this month can be either change, or travel toiletry items.  The big event is Sunday Night, November 1st, where everyone can come together and have hot dogs popcorn and peanuts and watch the game in the fellowship hall!  All proceeds will help FIRST DAY WHITTIER.   See you there!!

Bills are Here!

20 October 2009

Dear Parents:

Thank you for being patient. We have been able to get our billing system up again. Many of you made payments, even though a billing wasn’t sent out yet. Thank you.

Remember, that most everything charged on this statement was due on October 1st. Please remit all payments no later than Monday, October 26th, or a $50 late charge per family will be applied to your account.

The November billing statements will be released next Wednesday and will be due by Monday, November 2nd.

Payments must be made in a timely manner, in order that our teachers can be paid. We maintain the highest quality education at the lowest possible price and do not have large reserves on hand. If everybody pays timely, we will have more monies to continue improving our school.

We do accept VISA and Mastercard for your convenience.

If you have examined your bill, and believe something to be in error, please contact Samantha in the office on Mondays or Wednesdays, or email me. I will be glad to examine your bill and answer any questions you might have.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Candy Candy Candy, Who's got the Candy?

It’s Important!

You also should be receiving a flyer from the SKILLS FOUNDATION announcing the annual Red-Ribbon Pancake Breakfast on October 24th. Palm View’s banner is on Whittier Blvd near Bright St. We are one of the major sponsors this year. If you come, say hi to me at the Palm View Booth!

To encourage participation, we are asking all students to wear DODGER OR ANGEL attire instead of chapel uniforms for the entire month of October. On Sunday, November 1st, at 6 PM we are asking everybody to come and watch Game 4 of the world series with us. Admission is any donation to FIRST DAY WHITTIER. Dodger Dogs will be on sale for $1. WEATHER FUN - FOOTBALL NEWS

Parents & Players,

It has been great weather lately unfortunately it has interfered with our football schedule. Our game was cancelled on Tuesday and we haven't heard yet when or if there will be a make-up game.

We haven't practiced in some time and so tomorrow the 15th we'll practice after school until 4:30p. Please make every effort to be there.

We once again invite any interested students to join the team and tomorrow's practice would be a great way to begin.

If you have any questions or ways to help the team, contact the office.
Looking forward to our next time together.

COACH JER

p.s. Parents - if any of you would like to bring drinks (preferable with small amounts of sugar) for the game you are more than welcome.

Spiritual Emphasis Week

Today was our first of 4 special chapels for 2009 Spiritual Emphasis Week.  Dennis Zech was here with his cart of tricks.  He spoke about discerning God's truth from the Bible.  He showed us how not to be deceived by the tricks of the Devil.

Card Tricks, Ketchup Bottles, Sugar in Cup, Unending water.... The list goes on.  And Amberly!

The tricks get bigger and better each day!

Remember -- parents, grandparents, and everyone is invited to the Wednesday Chapel at 10 AM and the Special Family Service on Wednesday at 7 PM.  Invite your friends Wednesday, night, even if they don't come to Palm View!  It will be fun!  For more information on them, visit their website!

On Wednesday night and Thursday after chapel, magic tricks will be available for purchase.  You may bring an extra $5-$10.

DONT FORGET -- a Sepcial Offering will also be taken on Wednesday!

Phones & Email System Restored

Thanks to the hard work of XO Communications, our systems have been parttially restored after an 8 hour outage!  It was painful to be thrown back a few years prior to the days of telephone and internet service.  Everything should be back to normal now.  They are still having intermittent problems with our old 562-693-3746 number, so please use our new main number 562-698-2564.

Thank you for a great Donuts with Dad day!  We'll see you next week for Spiritual Emphasis Week!

NEWS FLASH - Email services down

Unfortunately, our web hosting company for http://www.palmviewchristian.org/  is experiencing problems, which also means we are not receiving or able to send any email today, Thursday, 1 October 2009.

If you happen to receive this, it's because our http://www.palmviewchristian.com/ news site utilizes a seperate hosting service to ensure redundancy.

So let us apologize if we haven't responded to any emails yet... it's because we haven't received them!

See you Friday! at Donuts with Dad!
